The Frozen World of Ota - originally published June 17th, 1980

The Star Wars Daily Strips - The Frozen World of Ota

Today we see the start of The Frozen World of Ota a brand new storyline "From the Adventures of Luke Skywalker." On writing duty is Russ Manning with some contributions by Rick Hoberg and art by Manning, Hoberg, Don Christensen, and Dave Stevens. This was the last storyline that Russ Manning was able to work on before his failing health prevented his continuing on with the strip.

I'd also like to take time to mention Al Williamson who just passed away recently. He was undoubtedly one of the finest artists to ever grace Star Wars and the first outside of Ralph McQuarrie to ever capture the feel of Star Wars in drawing. He will be missed.

You'll see the start of his run with the Star Wars daily strip next year. In the meantime, if you'd like to catch a glimpse of what's to come you can click here.

The Star Wars Daily Strips - Bonus Content

You're in your X-wing fighter in the middle of a fierce aerial fight!
You must destroy the enemy TIE fighters without hitting any of your own X-wings. To prove that the Force is with you, fight this battle with your eyes closed. Place your pencil at START.
Pick out the TIE fighter you want to hit on your first shot. Remember where it is. Close your eyes. Draw a line to where you think the fighter is. Open your eyes. See where you drew the line.
Was it a hit? Score 1 point for each hit.
If you hit one of your own X-wings, subtract 1 point from your score.
Keep on playing until you've hit all the TIE fighters.
Perfect score is 10.
